Snug Primary School Sign

The Snug Primary School Sign is the creation of a sign that is able to be vertically lifted and lowered via remote control.

materials

The Sign is fabricated using 50x50mm aluminium square hollow section for the outer frame with up-cycled fence palings as the infill, the signage on both sides of the sign is handcrafted using mild steel solid round bar of various diameter widths of 20mm, 12mm and 8mm. The combination of these materials give the sign a total weight of 71kg.

The Main Structure is fabricated using 150x150mm mild steel square hollow section for the lifting towers and a 150x100mm mild steel rectangular hollow section that spans the distance between the towers and connects them at the top.

The mechanism that operates the vertical lift and lowering of the sign, which is concealed in the main structure, has been designed and developed by Richard Salter.

The Main Structure and the Sign’s outer frame are coated in a satin black epoxy enamel surface protection.
